Elevated Wardrobe Basics I'm Buying for Summer
Because simple doesn't have to mean boring!
Dressing for warm weather always seems to come back to the basics… but simple never has to mean boring. A rotation of a few versatile key pieces is enough to get you from now all the way through to fall. I lined up easy-to-wear picks in each category that you’ll be able to reach for over and over throughout the season. They’re easy to style, endlessly wearable, and elevated enough to make even your most minimal outfits feel polished and thoughtful.
PS: many of these picks are on sale now (along with pieces from some of my favorite brands like Acne Studios, Christopher Esber, and Proenza Schouler to name a few) and offer quick one day shipping and returns!
Elevated Tops

These tops are light enough to be worn on the warmest days, and can be styled up or down for your day-to-night needs. I’m currently loving draping, soft tailoring, and chic necklines.
Balloon Pants

Balloon pants are everywhere right now, and for good reason. They’re super fashion forward and perfect for warmer weather since they won’t be clinging to you. Super wearable, lightweight fabrics are key.
Relaxed Shorts

Shorts are a must for summer in NYC (or any other super humid area). Longer denim shorts are in, and look great with sandals, loafers, slides, and even boots on a cooler evening. I’m also loving boxer and silk shorts which are fun to dress down in a t shirt or dress up in a more structured or elegant top or third layer.
Chic Dresses

They key with summer dresses, much like the other categories featured, is that they are easy to wear and style. Slip silhouettes, classic poplin cotton, and drop waists are all perfect for day to night styling and can be worn endless ways. This whole lineup would work with sneakers, flats, sandals, or heels.

A little lime green leather never hurt anybody, and this Tory Burch look is right up my alley!
If you’ve ever accidentally shown up matching with your friends or sisters without planning, you know you know exactly how this feels!
